AutoCarto 2008, the seventeenth international research symposium on computer-based cartography, held at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, USA, was an unqualified success. A photo archive is being developed of all the workshops and ICA Commission meetings that took place during the symposium. Photos are being added as they become available.

To reserve a room on site, call 304-876-7900 and mention AutoCarto. The rate is $119 per person per night and includes a full meal plan [dinner on check-in day and lunch on check-out day].

Cartographers, geographers, geospatial analysts, GIScientists, and others conducting research on the cutting edge of the geospatial sciences submitted paper and posters on a variety of topics, as well as websites demonstrating an innovative cartographic application or method. Paper presentations were on September 8-10. Workshops were given on September 10th and 11th. ICA commissions meetings took place on September 11th. There was also an announcement of the CaGIS Distinguished Career and other awards presented by CaGIS during 2008.
